Recently there has been news about parents refusing to vaccinate their children out of the fear that the children will develop autism or other debilitating disorders. The rejected vaccinations range from just the normal flu vaccine to the measles or tetanus vaccines, or in some cases, every single vaccine ever. It’s outrageous that parents would place the lives of their own children and the many other children at risk and it’s possibly even more outrageous that doctors would agree to exempt children from vaccinations that are scientifically proven to work.

In the modern world it is difficult to find a person who does not have at least a basic understanding of English. Yet, one would be hard-pressed to find an American citizen who is fluent in a language other than English. Actually, skill in a single language is a pretty hard demand to meet nowadays. Sure, it doesn’t seem like a problem, but we’re starving our students of unique work and education opportunities and falling behind the rest of the world that does have a foreign-exchange program. It’s a pity considering all that we’d have to do is teach more languages earlier in school.
